Mili Gorge

The deserted village of Mili is within the magnificent lush, green Mili Gorge just 2-3 kilometres from MARVA Apartments-Studios to the south up on the hills. The gorge is literally covered by a blanket of greenery; an unspoiled and untouched place between trees and plants, along little streams, empty village houses, caves, and churches, all under the songs and sounds of many kinds of birds. Old and now deserted watermills along the stream were supplying Rethymnon with flour during the last centuries, giving the name to the old and new settlement. From the new village of Mili one can get down to the gorge and the old settlement. Taking the gorge to the end, it leads back to the coast of Rethymno.
